Summer rain

He wanted to be sure that she would leave the city so he offered her a ride home. She got into the car without a word. They travelled in silence. From time to time she would look at him as if she had asked him a question and she was waiting for an answer. She was imagining that they were talking. Reality could never beat her imagination. She heard all the answers. She touched him only once, to stop by the ocean. When she undressed he looked away. The ride was 365 days long. When he left she just stood there, lost, licking the salt off her hands. He knew. So he came back, only to tell her: “Remember how you used to love the summer rain”.
